How to choose a software house in Faisalabad

Faisalabad has no shortage of people who build software. Textile mills, wholesalers, pharmacies and schools all need it, and every month a new team offers to make it. The hard part is not finding a software house — it is finding one that will still be answering the phone after the system goes live.

This is the checklist we would use if we were on the other side of the table.

1. Ask to see a system that is running today

Screenshots and demo videos are easy. Ask for a live login to a demo, or ask to speak to one client who has used the system for more than a year. A software house that has delivered real work can arrange this in a day.

2. Check that they understand your trade

A weaving unit, a yarn trader and a retail shop all say “stock”, but they mean different things: beams and rolls, bags and kilograms, pieces and barcodes. In the first meeting, a good team asks about your process before it talks about its software. If the conversation starts with features, be careful.

3. Make sure local support is real

When billing stops at 8 pm on a Saturday, a support email does not help. Ask directly: who comes on-site in Faisalabad, how fast, and what does it cost after the free period ends? Get the answer in writing.

4. Know where your data lives — and who owns it

Your sales, stock and salary data belong to you. Ask whether the system runs on your own server or in the cloud, how backups are taken, and how you can export everything if you ever leave. A vendor who avoids this question is telling you something.

5. Ask about FBR and bank requirements up front

FBR digital e-invoicing now applies to more businesses every year. Confirm that the software can connect to the FBR system, or can be extended to, before you sign — not after the first notice arrives. Our FBR guide explains what is involved.

6. Start small

You do not need a full ERP on day one. Start with the module that hurts most — usually inventory, billing or payroll — and add the rest once it works. A good software house will suggest this itself, because a small project that succeeds is better for both sides than a large one that stalls.

7. Compare total cost, not the first quotation

The cheapest quotation often leaves out data migration, training, hardware, yearly support and changes after go-live. Ask for all of it on one page. What custom software really costs in Pakistan lists the usual ranges.

The right software house is the one whose system your staff still use a year later — not the one with the best presentation.
