FBR POS integration for retailers in Faisalabad

FBR requires many retailers to connect their point-of-sale system to its servers, so every sale is reported as it happens. For a shop, showroom or chain in Faisalabad, the main question is practical: will my billing keep working, and will the invoice be valid? This guide covers what you need to know before you choose a POS vendor.

1. Who has to integrate

The rule mainly covers Tier-1 retailers: chain stores, outlets in large malls or plazas, shops above the notified size or electricity bill limit, and businesses that FBR has named. The criteria change through notifications, so check with your tax advisor whether your business is covered. Many businesses integrate early anyway, because customers increasingly ask for an FBR-verified bill.

2. What every invoice must carry

An integrated POS sends each sale to FBR and receives an FBR invoice number. The printed bill must show that number and a QR code, which the customer can scan in the Tax Asaan app to check it. If your current software prints a bill without these, it is not integrated.

3. What happens when the internet goes down

Billing should never stop. A good POS keeps selling offline, stores the invoices and sends them to FBR automatically once the connection returns. Ask any vendor to show this live: switch off the internet during the demo and make a sale.

4. Returns, discounts and multiple counters

Refunds and exchanges must also reach FBR correctly, and discounts must not break the tax calculation. If you have several counters or branches, each needs its own registered POS ID, while stock and reports should still come together in one place.

5. Stock and accounts, not just billing

FBR integration is only one part. The same system should update stock, show daily sales by counter and cashier, and pass totals into your accounts. Otherwise you end up with an FBR-compliant bill and an inventory nobody trusts. See why stock reports never match.

6. Cost and how to choose a vendor

Costs depend on the number of counters, whether you need inventory and accounts, and whether the software runs on your own PC or in the cloud. Before you pay, ask:

  • Can you show a live FBR invoice with a QR code from your software?
  • Does it keep billing offline and sync later?
  • Who handles registration of POS IDs with FBR?
  • Is there local support in Faisalabad if a counter stops at 9 pm?

If you also issue sales-tax invoices to other businesses, read our FBR digital invoicing guide — that is a separate requirement.

An FBR-integrated POS should feel invisible at the counter: the cashier just bills, and the system takes care of FBR.
