What a textile ERP in Faisalabad must handle

Most ERP software is written for shops and distributors. A Faisalabad textile unit is different: yarn comes in by the bag, leaves as beams, comes back as greige cloth, goes out for dyeing and returns as finished fabric — often through three or four outside parties. Generic software loses track somewhere in the middle, and the owner goes back to registers and Excel.

Before you buy, check that the system can do these six things.

1. Yarn stock in bags, cones and kilograms

Yarn is bought by the bag, issued by weight and costed by count and lot. The system should keep all three units together, track each lot separately and show the real balance by count — not just a total in kilograms.

2. Stock lying with outside parties

Sizing, weaving on contract, dyeing, printing, stitching: at any time a large part of your stock sits in someone else’s premises. A textile ERP must show issue and receipt against each party, with wastage and shortage, so you know exactly what every processor still owes you.

3. Beams, looms and production

For weaving units, the system should link a beam to its loom, record picks or metres per shift, and give loom-wise efficiency. Without this, production reports are written from memory at the end of the day.

4. Greige to finished fabric costing

The cost of finished cloth is yarn plus sizing, weaving, processing charges, freight and rejection. Good software builds this up lot by lot, so you can see your real margin on each order — before you quote the next one.

5. Labour on piece rate and attendance

Weavers are usually paid by the metre or pick; staff by attendance. The ERP should take production and biometric data straight into payroll, with advances and loans deducted. How attendance flows into payroll explains this step.

6. FBR sales tax and invoicing

Textile is a sales-tax-heavy trade. Invoices, debit and credit notes, and the monthly return should come out of the same system — and connect to FBR digital invoicing when your business is notified. See our FBR e-invoicing guide.

If a vendor cannot show you a party-wise stock report on the first demo, the system was not built for textile.
